Purpose, Meaning of VPBank Hanoi Marathon – The Official International Marathon of Hanoi

The Marathon is aimed at encouraging and developing sport activities in a sustainable and broad way for all ages and classes of Vietnamese people.

The race is also to help develop the professional, semi-professional and amateur sports activity to improve the health and stature of the Vietnamese people.

Besides, the Marathon is a key bridge to support the introduction and promotion of the image of Vietnam in general and of Hanoi in particular, as the capital with thousand years of civilization, the City of Peace among international friends.

Description of the Race Course

The Marathon’s full distance (42.195 km) has been certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

In order to represent the main idea of ​​running the Marathon, three famous landmarks – Hoan Kiem Lake, Long Bien Bridge and West Lake – are connected through the Old Quarter, creating a unique route through Hanoi’s heritage.
