More than 5000 people are expected to take part in the inaugural Cliff Side Fun Run, to be held around the spectacular Long Reef Headland on April 9.
The 10km and 3km Fun Run (or walk) will attract entrants of all ages and levels of fitness, and will be followed by a family festival which includes displays and activities with sporting greats.
At the festival - The Sydney Sixers stand has the kids bowling on a giant inflatable cricket pitch and the Sydney Swans stand will hold a kicking competition, along with mascots. prizes and giveaways. There will also be awesome displays by skateboard legend Shane Azar.
‘The Voice’ 2016 contestant Blake Morgan is part of the entertainment line up.
The Fun Run supports three fantastic causes- 'Can it be Cured - Raising Mental Heath' the 'National Breast Cancer Foundation' and the amazing Mona Vale SLSC.
The clubhouse at Mona Vale is desperately in need of an upgrade and currently struggles to support their 1300-strong membership. They also need to improve facilities to maintain safety at the popular beach.
The Cliff Side Fun Run has been organised by locally based organisation The AVAAL Group.
“Entries are now open and we are already delighted at the response for this community event," says event director Gareth Pike. "What better way to spend a Sunday than get out and about, do a bit of exercise, take in the scenery and enjoy all the activities and entertainment that will make it a great day for everyone.”
Event patron is TripleM Grill Team radio personality Gus Worland who has thrown all his support behind the Cliff Side Fun Run.
“The Long Reef headland is one of my favourite places on earth,” says Gus. “I’ve run the New York Marathon and I can safely say this event is shorter, more beautiful, and much closer to home!
“The Cliff Side Fun Run will raise money for Mental Health, Breast Cancer and an incredible local surf club, which are all causes close to my heart. We really look forward to seeing the community unite to run (or walk) together and enjoy a great day."
