THE NATIONAL Geographic Earth Day Run will return for a ninth edition this April 22, 2018 at the SM Mall of Asia.  Through the years, this event has grown to become one of the most awaited and participated of races with a projected attendance of 15,000 Eco Warriors this year alone as a show of support for Mother Nature.

Runners may choose between 21, 10, five and the new three-kilometer category.  Just proceed to registration kiosks located inside SM Mall of Asia, SM Aura Premier and SM City North EDSA.

Part of the proceeds will go to funding projects of the World Wildlife Fund for Nature benefitting the Tawbuid Mangyan tribe in Mindoro and the Abuan Watershed in Sierra Madre.  Registration fees are set at PHP 1,400.00 for 21, PHP 950.00 for 10, PHP 850.00 for five and PHP 750.00 for three kilometers.

One of the projects this year will go to the construction of a rainwater catch basin for the Mangyans as a response to the water shortage problem.  In the past, the NatGeo Earth Day Run also managed to plant trees in the mountains to preserve the watershed.

All runners will be given a singlet, race bib, refillable water bottle and towel.  Medals and loot bags await all 10 and 21-kilometer finishers while the latter will also receive a finisher’s shirt.

In order to let the 21-kilometer runners prepare properly, a free running clinic will be conducted in the evening of April 9 and 11 at Track 30th inside Bonifacio Global City.  A team of coaches and experts have been tapped to share their knowledge on various topics followed by a group run of 10 to 16 kilometers to cap the session.

Aside from the race itself, a lot of surprises are in the works for all to enjoy.  For sure, getting physically fit and healthy will go along with a deeper love for the environment.
