  What to expect:

A world class cycling challenge – A cycling challenge suited to both competitive or recreational cyclists. ITT and Gran Fondo Classic are qualifier races for the UCI World Championship.

UCI Gran Fondo World Championship

Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Gran Fondo World Series is awarded to Tour de Bintan along with 18 select cycling events across the world.

The UCI Gran Fondo World Series is a ‘cycling for all’ series where cyclists from all over the world can participate in events where they can obtain their ticket for the official UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in different age groups.

There are qualifier events for both Road Races and Time Trial. The UCI Gran Fondo World Championship will crown the new UCI World Champions in Road racing and Time Trial. The World Championship event will be held in Albi, France on 24-27 August 2017.

Tour de Bintan UCI Gran Fondo World Championship qualifier races:

  • 17km Individual Time Trial – 3 March (Friday)
  • 140km Gran Fondo Classic – 4 March (Saturday)

How to qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championship:

  • The top 25% of each age category on 17km Individual Time Trial and 140km Gran Fondo Classic qualifies for the World Championship
  • The top 3 winners of an age category always qualifies regardless of the number of cyclists in the category
