The Aurora Handicap Marathon in Upper Hutt has staggered start times based on the estimated time of completion so everyone finishes at more or less the same time. There is a full marathon, 2x half marathon relay and 4x quarter marathon relay.
Start times for all events are based on the handicapper's estimate of the time you will take to complete your chosen event at 2.00pm All competitors have a reasonable chance to take line honours.
In addition to the designated merit prizes in the handicap section, merit prizes will be awarded for fastest times in the marathon, and a range of spot prizes will be available to all participants who attend the prize-giving. All entrants who complete the course will receive a certificate of achievement.
Soup and a light buffet meal will be available at about 3pm.
